Lexus Shows Off GX550 Overtrail+ Build at SEMA 2023

Check out our breakdown of the all-new 2024 Lexus GX550.

The Lexus GX550 is more than just a luxury SUV. It has been built from the ground up to be an Overlanding machine. The Overtrail+ build made its debut at SEMA and was the centerpiece of the Lexus booth.

Under the hood, it features a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 capable of putting out 349 hp. The build featured the stock 18-inch wheels equipped with 33-inch Toyo Open Country A/T tires. It also comes with an on-board air compressor in case you run into any issues on the trail. As far as armor is concerned, they are keeping it protected with an aluminum skid plate and rock rails.

We might be a little biased but what’s on top of this rig sets it apart from the rest. This build was designed with storage in mind. The Prinsu Rack on top is loaded up with Pelican™ BX90R Cargo Case, BX55S Cargo Case, Prinsu Rear Window Accessory Panels on both windows and a Prinsu Ladder to provide roof access.

The GX550 was also shown with all the off-road essentials you might need on the trail. Attached to the Prinsu Rear Panels you get Rotopax Fuel Storage containers, a DMOS Delta Shovel, and a first aid kit. To top off your recovery efforts they also had ARB TRED Pro recovery boards mounted on the roof.

We are excited to see these out on the trail when they start rolling out next year: but what do you think?  Does seeing the GX550 build tempt you to trade in your rig? Let us know in the comments.

Looks nice, curious what the MSRP will be.

I’m one of the first on my dealer’s list for a Lexus GX550 Overtrail. I look forward to seeing what off road accessories CBI will be offering. The wheeling opportunities in Arizona are endless, but so far I haven’t seen too many fabricators focused on the GX550. Hopefully that will change once the rigs start arriving at dealers.
